Peaceful Fire

WDYS#174 and Suzetteb haiku: Is Lit!

Try to burn the pages of our history

Take away our voices

Make our dreams go up in flames

But, our hearts will burn for the path of those who paved it before us

Inscribed lyrics of hip hop artist and the branded lyrics of our ancestors ring fiercely and true

Spoken words, incendiary speeches, rewritten stories slaved by what you believe about us, but not for us

Smoldered Black History to one Month, but we be lit on the pages of daily reading and living

Trying to fan our blazing fire peacefully, (royally)

  1. Beautifully said, Pamelap. I particularly like the line, ‘Smoldered Black History to one Month, but we be lit on the pages of daily reading and living.’ That says it all and is full of meaningful truth. Xx πŸŒΌπŸ’ž
